Wilotus

What 35+ years of project controls taught us about delivery certainty

Wilotus did not start with a piece of software. It started with more than 35 years of experience delivering capital projects across infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, buildings and industrial construction, while observing the same set of problems repeat project after project, sector after sector.

Certainty is not luck

Spend long enough around major projects, and you stop believing that the ones that deliver are simply the lucky ones. The pattern is too consistent for that. The projects delivered to plan were not the ones with the biggest teams or the best intentions. They were the ones where someone could see the truth early and was allowed to act on it.

The truth is usually late

Recurring failure was rarely due to the lack of information. The information existed. It was simply late. A cost overrun that was real in March did not reach the people who could respond to it until the May report. By then, the decision that would have helped in March was no longer available. Time and again, the problem was not visibility. It was the lag.

The tools followed the discipline

The best project control professionals we worked with found a way of beating the lag. They built systems out of spreadsheets, rituals and hard-won judgement, while maintaining the real picture in their heads. It worked, but it was fragile. It depended on one or two people who knew where every number came from. When they left, the discipline left with them.

What we built and why

Wilotus is an attempt to put that discipline into the platform itself, so it does not rely on a single heroic controls manager to hold it together. One source of truth instead of reconciled spreadsheets. Live variance instead of monthly hindsight. Contemporaneous site records instead of reconstructed ones. Governance embedded in daily work instead of bolted on at audit time.

Delivery certainty is not a feature you switch on. It is a discipline, learned slowly and at real cost over decades. We built Wilotus so the next generation of projects can inherit that discipline rather than learning it the hard way.
